Intern

Summary of Position:

The primary purposes of the SFM Internship Program are to widen the business knowledge of undergraduate students, while temporarily expanding manpower for in-house projects. Our program will provide students with corporate project experience, the opportunity to learn from strategic, high-level professionals within the insurance business, exposure to real-world business systems, an introduction to philanthropic responsibilities to the local community and a chance to showcase their experience to members of our staff. Our goal is not to just meet our own needs, but to exceed the expectations of participating students.

  • This position is located in Ormond Beach, FL.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs duties as assigned by department manager
  • Interns will be assigned to one of the departments listed below:
    • Marketing
    • Claims
    • Accounting
    • Staff Counsel
    • Litigation
    • Underwriting
    • Product Development
    • Business Systems
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
  • Assist in other areas of department or other departments as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Students should be working toward a Bachelor’s Degree
  • GPA minimum of 3.0
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; additional computer skills a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • All students considered for the program must successfully complete a formal interview
  • Students are required to follow all rules and policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and associated Addendum
  • Students are required to perform their duties in accordance with all work instructions and conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner
  • Students must be willing to actively participate in a community service project. Security First Managers supports a large number of local charities and will provide a list of opportunities to students during orientation
  • Students must be willing to participate in a monthly review process with HR to evaluate program success
  • At the end of the program, all students must be willing to participate in a formal briefing to the leadership staff explaining what they have accomplished while working with the company, and what they have learned
