CAT Consultant

Department: CAT
Location: Ormond Beach, FL

Summary of Position:

Performs professional activities related to the investigation, adjustment and settlement of homeowner property claims for Security First Managers (Company). Work involves coordinating all third-party involvement regarding investigations. Responsible for evaluating reports, photos, estimates and other information to investigate coverage, evaluate damage, settle covered losses, deny non-covered losses, and negotiate disputed claims.

Work is performed independently under general supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position typically requires processing and interpreting of less clearly defined issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for contacting insureds and other parties to obtain information necessary to properly evaluate property damage claims
  • Responds to correspondence/time sensitive material in a timely manner
  • Establishes reserves for indemnity and expenses as required
  • Manages loss adjustment expenses to ensure accuracy
  • Coordinates with approved Company vendors/experts regarding claims handling as needed
  • Interacts with external business partners; exercises independent judgment regarding claims settlements
  • Analyze complex situations, identifies key issues, and formulates effective solutions
  • Assesses, plans, and implements best practice standards and assures compliance with all regulatory agencies; compiles and submits data for trend analysis and regulatory reporting
  • Maintains a customer service orientation and positive image of the company; provides courteous, prompt, and professional approach to exchanging information and resolving issues; adheres to strict confidentiality requirements
  • Responds to emergency call-ins for weather incidents, natural disasters, or other critical events
  • Ensures prompt and efficient processing of a higher volume of insurance claims in the aftermath of catastrophic weather events, working additional hours as necessary
  • Maintains positive communication and interaction with Company personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of property claims handling experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
