Position Summary
The Director of Technical Sales serves as a strategic leader connecting Sales, Underwriting, Product, and Operations to ensure P\&C insurance products are effectively positioned, accurately communicated, and successfully adopted across the agency and partner network. This role blends deep technical insurance expertise with sales leadership to drive revenue growth, enhance agent experience, and translate complex underwriting and product strategies into clear, compelling value for the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic link between Sales, Underwriting, Product, and Operations to ensure P\&C products are effectively positioned and adopted.
- Act as the subject matter expert on P\&C insurance products, underwriting considerations, pricing, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and support for complex, high-value, or non-standard sales opportunities.
- Translate underwriting and product strategies into clear, agent-friendly value propositions.
- Partner with field sales teams, agency partners, vendors, and leadership to align and execute sales strategies.
- Participate in key agent meetings, presentations, negotiations, trade shows, and industry events.
- Develop and deliver technical sales training through seminars, webinars, and workshops.
- Create and maintain technical sales materials, including product guides, coverage comparisons, FAQs, and objection-handling tools.
- Review and evaluate prospective agents and business opportunities based on performance and underwriting guidelines.
- Monitor agent production and performance trends to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze complex sales, underwriting, or market situations to develop solutions and improve close rates.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure agent insights and competitive intelligence inform product enhancements.
- Assess market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes affecting P\&C insurance products.
- Provide input into underwriting guidelines, product changes, and go-to-market strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor technical sales team members to achieve goals.
- Manage workload, priorities, and performance to ensure efficient operations.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff while providing regular coaching and feedback.
- Establish best practices for technical sales support and agent engagement.
- Contribute to departmental budgeting and resource planning.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team culture.
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Eight (8) – twelve (12) years of experience in P&C insurance, including underwriting, product, sales support, or technical sales roles.
• Five (5) years of leadership experience
• Experience partnering with sales teams to drive revenue and improve agent experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
• Must possess a valid state of Florida driver’s license
• Industry designations or trade certifications as required
