Senior Paralegal (Orlando or Ormond)

Summary of Position:

Performs senior-level technical legal activities for Security First Managers (Company). Work involves performing a variety of legal tasks on an assigned caseload of litigated files and assisting attorneys with settling legal disputes that arise from claims.

Work is performed under minimal supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative. Position relies on experience and exercises some independent judgement to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions, including but not limited to:

  • Mentors and trains new paralegals
  • Reviews and evaluates assigned cases
  • Attends trial with attorneys when required
  • Conducts legal research, file management, and case progression activities
  • Drafts correspondence regarding discovery matters, case status or motions
  • Drafts complaint responses, interrogatories, and other discovery and/or complex pleadings or motions for attorney review
  • Obtains, compiles, and analyzes records for discovery; analyzes and responds to incoming discovery
  • Prepares experts or other witnesses; coordinates any other necessary pre-trial and/or trial activities as required
  • Summarizes discovery, indexes depositions, and drafts jury instructions and necessary subpoenas for trial and pre-trial statements
  • Collaborates with Litigation Examiners/Specialists to execute the agreed litigation plan for the defense of each case
  • Contacts parties and witnesses concerning trial dates; coordinates with the attorney regarding appearance and testimony
  • Keeps the assigned Litigation Examiner/Specialist informed throughout the life of the file

Minimum Requirements:

  • Paralegal degree or certification
  • Four (4) years paralegal and first party property experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
